COURSE DESCRIPTION

Discover how sustainable tourism can transform communities and create lasting value. This course offers students an in-depth understanding of the principles and practices that drive responsible tourism worldwide. You will explore how tourism supports local economies, protects cultural heritage, and enhances community well-being, while aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completing this module, students will master the principles of sustainable tourism development, understanding its role in economic growth, cultural preservation, and community empowerment. They will identify challenges in tourism and devise strategies to mitigate them, while evaluating the impacts on local communities and destinations. Additionally, students will formulate sustainable tourism policy recommendations. 

Generic outcomes include the ability to integrate interdisciplinary theories, plan and study independently, and communicate effectively in various formats. They will also learn to constructively use feedback, demonstrate critical thinking, and work efficiently and effectively in multicultural teams.
